Gilchrist Connell has appointed Daniel Robinson as principal in Sydney.

Robinson, known for his expertise on insurance coverage issues and indemnity disputes across insurance and reinsurance lines, moved from Clyde & Co. His appointment comes after John Edmond joined from Clyde & Co last year to become Gilchrist Connell’s chairman.

“We are always looking for highly skilled experts to assist us in meeting client demand in specialist areas.  Dan has exactly the skills we were seeking, was recommended to us by trusted clients, and is a great fit for our culture,” said Richard Wood, Gilchrist Connell managing principal.

Robinson is an expert in directors and officers (D&O) and financial institutions matters. Gilchrist Connell said that his “high-level skills and excellent reputation will substantially boost” the firm’s expertise in complex D&O coverage and defence, as well as financial lines errors and omissions.

His has acted for insurers in large scale, complex litigation, including multiple major class actions. Gilchrist Connell said that Robinson has a “pragmatic and commercially astute approach,” which has “earned him national industry recognition, stellar career progression and strong client support, within both the domestic and London markets.”

“I believe the firm is perfectly placed to capitalise on opportunities in the legal services market for insurers and reinsurers, and I very much look forward to working with the Gilchrist Connell team to provide first class service to my clients going forward,” Robinson said.
