Sydney partner Anna Gamvros is set to head up Allen & Overy’s (A&O) APAC privacy and cyber practice.

The appointment was made in line with the firm’s expansion of its global cybersecurity practice with a team of cybersecurity incident response experts. London-based Ffion Flockhart was also named the firm’s global head of cybersecurity.

Charlie Weston Simons, Ross Phillipson and Anna Rudawski comprise the other partners on the team. They will work alongside counsel Steven Hadwin and eight associates.

The team is distributed across the US, UK, and APAC regions, focusing on the management of cyber incidents and data risks from prevention to response. Members will advise on remediation, cooperating with regulators and handling investigations.

“The increasing sophistication of cybersecurity threats – when combined with the rapid global growth in data privacy laws and rising levels of follow-on litigation – creates significant legal and regulatory risk for business. Cyber-attacks can also cause financial and reputational damage”, A&O said.
