Sparke Helmore's projects and government commercial practice gets further boost

Sparke Helmore has attracted a new partner for its projects and government commercial team in Simon Lewis.

Lewis was a senior executive lawyer at the Australian Government Solicitor in the Attorney-General’s Department. He advised Commonwealth agencies and corporate entities on major projects, procurements, and governance issues.

He is a seasoned corporate and commercial adviser focusing on government and insurance clients. He brings more than 20 years of experience from both Australia and the UK, advising public and private sector clients on transaction and advisory engagements.

“Simon’s appointment creates significant opportunity to strengthen our relationships with Commonwealth and NSW State government as well as to leverage his considerable commercial and insurance expertise to support client demand in these areas”, said Paul Tobin, national practice group leader for projects and government commercial.

Lewis explained that after a tenure working with the Commonwealth government “during a time of significant policy change”, it “felt like the right time to return to private practice”.

He will work from Sparke Helmore’s Sydney branch, joining recently appointed partner Sheldon Garcia.
