The newly promoted partner was a counsel in the firm’s London base
Dentons has added a new partner in Melbourne.
Robyn Chatwood has returned to Australia from the firm’s London office, where she was most recently a counsel. She was also a managing associate with specialist knowledge in IP and IT.
Before becoming a lawyer, Chatwood worked as an executive at Shell and Mobil Oil for more than 10 years. She then began her legal career at legacy Allens Arthur Robinson before becoming an associate to Justice Julie Dodds-Streeton at the Supreme Court of Victoria.
The new partner also worked at Magic Circle outfit Slaughter and May, before moving to legacy Nabarro, which last year combined with CMS Cameron McKenna and Olswang in UK’s largest law firm merger yet. From Nabarro, she made the move to Dentons in 2014.
“We’ve been looking to expand our IP and IT offering in Australia, and Robyn’s diverse, international experience completely fits the bill. Her expertise and focus on the hotel, retail, and healthcare sectors, growth areas for the Australian practice, are also welcome,” said Ian Dardis, Denton’s CEO in Australia. “Being able to relocate someone who is already a part of the Dentons family and is familiar with both our clients and our offering is an added benefit.”
Dentons said that Chatwood has a specialty in international licensing, particularly in the retail, hospitality, and healthcare sectors.
Chatwood’s practice covers franchising and distribution, commercial contracts and concession agreements, information technology and communications law, e-commerce law, and data protection and privacy. She also specialises in all forms of new technology and IP such as artificial intelligence, payment platforms and crypto currencies, and augmented reality and virtual reality.
