NRF aids university in $175m note issue
Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) has acted for the University of Wollongong on a $175m issuance.

The global firm helped establish the university’s medium-term note program and its first domestic 10-year debt issuance, which marks its return to the domestic bond market. The issuance was rated AA by Standard & Poors and attracted bids totalling more than $500m.

“At a time when universities are facing increasing funding pressure, this transaction illustrates the sophistication and foresight of the University of Wollongong’s finance team to use the debt capital markets to help to secure its long term vision for growth and innovation,” said partner Rob White, who jointly led the firm’s team.

White has worked with the university for a number of years, NRF said.

White’s co-lead partner was Vittorio Casamento. They were assisted by partner James Morris, associate Yoon Nam, and lawyers across the firm’s different practices.

Vittorio said that the deal demonstrates the strengths of the newly-merged firm’s debt capital markets team. At the start of December, NRF’s merger with legacy Henry Davis York went live.
