Linklaters appoints finance expert to partnership
Global law giant Linklaters has appointed a banking and finance law expert as its newest partner, as it further builds on finance practice.

The firm announced Thursday that Neil George Weiand has joined its Frankfurt office, after more than a decade in Allen & Overy. Weiand specializes in acquisition finance, syndicated loans, spin-off finance and Schuldschein private placements.

“[Weiand’s] appointment allows us to further strengthen the link between finance and corporate, which is of great importance to our clients, and expand our comprehensive advisory approach on the most senior level,” said Linklaters Germany senior partner Andreas Steck.

Weiand previously joined Allen & Overy in 1998, and became partner there in 2000. Before that, he worked at finance giant Deutsche Bank for seven years. There, he held different positions in the group’s legal department, focussing on the euro lending business and acquisition finance.

Weiand holds a doctorate from the University of Freiburg, and was admitted as a lawyer in Germany in 1992.

“Dr Weiand’s longstanding industry experience and his vast knowledge of banking and corporate players will be an excellent addition to Linklaters’ renowned finance division,” said Kurt Dittrich, head of the law firm’s German finance division.
