The seasoned executive moves to the role vacated by Christine Grice, who’s been called to the High Court bench
The New Zealand Law Society has appointed Mary Ollivier as its acting executive director.
She moves to the new role on 15 January after it was vacated by Christine Grice, who’s been called to the High Court bench.
Ollivier has been the inaugural general manager for regulatory of the Law Society since the office was established in 2008. She became a barrister and solicitor of the High Court in 1991.
She was a lawyer in various firms in Auckland, Wellington, and abroad before becoming the professional standards director and eventually the deputy executive director of the Wellington District Law Society in the mid-1990s.
For the implementation of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006, she then moved to the Law Society.
Ollivier has been the secretary of the Wellington Woman Lawyers Association and chair of the Professional Partnership Network.
