Johnson Winter Slattery (JWS) has guided MM Capital Partners on the acquisition of a 50% stake in the public-private partnership (PPP) projects by its newest fund MM Capital Infrastructure Fund II, L.P.

This transaction marks the new fund’s inaugural investment in Australia. The social infrastructure projects are Perth Stadium, Western Australia Schools and ACT Law Courts.

According to JWS lead partner Matthew Shanahan, the sale was “part of a competitive bid process”. The acquisition is in line with MM Capital Partners’ focus on investing in OECD countries like Australia.

Shanahan led the JWS team working on the deal alongside senior associate Jess Tsai. The team assisted on all tax aspects; partner Kathryn Bertram provided specialist advice on stamp duty.

The funds under management by MM Capital Partners currently exceeds $660m.
