JWS guides New York JV on the sale of Taurus Funds Management stake

Johnson Winter Slattery (JWS) advised New York joint venture M.D. Sass-Macquarie Financial Strategies, LP (FinStrat) on the sale of a 50% stake in Taurus Funds Management to ASX lister Regal Partners.

The transaction "will further expand Regal Partners’ existing capabilities across alternative investment strategies, specifically in credit and resources royalties," according to a press release by Regal Partners. CEO Brendan O’Connor confirmed that Taurus’ funds would “continue to operate under the management of its existing investment team.”

JWS worked on the corporate and tax aspects of the sale. The team was led by partners Amit Jois and Richard Graham as well as senior associate Rebecca Proudman. Associates Clinton Wang and Nathan Shapiro (corporate) were also part of the team, as were partner Matthew Shanahan and senior associate Jess Tsai (tax).

FinStrat is a joint venture M.D. Sass and Macquarie.
