HSF announces key promotions across Australia

International law firm Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF) has promoted 10 individuals to the position of executive counsel in Australia.  

The move is part of the firm’s annual global counsel promotion round, according to a news release, with the promotions scheduled to take effect from May 1, 2024. 

Kristin Stammer, executive partner for Asia and Australia, congratulated the new counsels, praising each for their “technical skills, client focus and leadership qualities.” 

“The new counsels are known for their expertise, drive and commitment to excellence,” she said further. “Each of them will play an integral role in ensuring that our clients continue to receive exceptional service from our market-leading teams.” 

HSF’s new executive counsels in Australia 

The newly appointed counsels represent a variety of practice areas within HSF, including corporate, disputes, projects energy & infrastructure, finance, employment, industrial relations & safety, and real estate. 

Charlotte Cameron, Perth (Corporate)  

Cameron specialises in equity capital markets and mergers and acquisitions. She has over 15 years of experience as a corporate lawyer. 

Anna Coroneo, Sydney (Corporate) 

Coroneo is part of HSF’s head office advisory team (HOAT). She is also expert in ESG, market disclosure, shareholder activism, and other board and executive-level governance issues. 

Jacques Giuffre, Perth (Projects, Energy & Infrastructure) 

Giuffre is the technology and IP practice lead in Perth. He has advised on technology procurement, commercialisation and disputes as well as intellectual property licensing and protection. 

Aaron Hayward, Sydney (Disputes) 

Hayward is an intellectual property litigator. He has extensive experience in handling complex technology litigation across the high-tech and life sciences sectors. 

Gabby Herron-Cartwright, Brisbane (Finance) 

Herron-Cartwright specialises in multi-sourced and alternative capital financing solutions, along with bespoke structuring and offtake arrangements for complex projects. She has spent time working in the UK, Hong Kong, and Australia throughout her nearly 15-year career. 

Kimberley Lean, Melbourne (Real Estate)  

Lean specialises on commercial real estate development and has advised on numerous large-scale property deals. 

Rommo Pandit, Brisbane (Employment, Industrial Relations & Safety) 

Pandit has over 10 years of experience as a lawyer. His areas of expertise are senior executive employment arrangements and advising on employment issues associated with corporate restructuring / transactional support. 

Claire Sharpe, Perth (Employment, Industrial Relations & Safety) 

Sharpe specialises in employment and safety law, providing strategic legal advice across various sectors. She has more than 10 years of experience in litigation and has represented clients in the Fair Work Commission, the federal courts, and civil claims in the District and Supreme Courts of Western Australia. 

Andrea Sneddon, Sydney (Disputes) 

Sneddon is a commercial litigator who has defended numerous high-profile class actions, including shareholder and product liability cases. 

Robert Withycombe-Taperell, Sydney (Finance) 

Withycombe-Taperell advises on a broad spectrum of financing transactions, leveraging his international experience from over seven years in London.
