HopgoodGanim adds four in Brisbane
HopgoodGanim Lawyers has kicked off the year with the appointment of four more lawyers in Brisbane.

The firm has appointed Alana Paterson as special counsel, Andrew Smith as associate, and Jodie Cunningham and Caitlin Kelly as solicitors.

Paterson joined the firm’s employment law team from Australian Business Lawyers and Advisors, where she was director. Before that, she was an associate at Thomson Geer. Paterson regularly acts for clients on employment law matters, including representing employers in employment and industrial disputes such as unfair dismissal, recovery of wages, discrimination, and breach of contract claims.

Smith joined the firm’s private enterprise group from Brisbane firm Tucker & Cowen Solicitors. He has also worked at Mellor Olsson, Cleary Hoare Solicitors, and PwC. His clients include private companies, emerging businesses, start-ups and high-wealth individuals. Smith regularly acts on a variety of corporate and commercial matters, including private M&A; dissolutions; and restructures of companies, trusts, and other entities.

Both Cunningham and Kelly joined the firm’s commercial property team.

Cunningham, who joined the HopgoodGanim from Mills Oakley, is experienced in commercial and residential conveyancing, large-scale sub-development work, commercial and residential lot reconfiguration, and retail and commercial leasing for both landlords and tenants.

Kelly, who joined the firm from MinterEllison, has acted for some of Australia’s largest institutional clients on property matters, including acquisitions and disposals and retail and commercial leasing.
