Hall & Wilcox has opened up applications to the 2024 edition of its startup accelerator program Frank Lab.

The firm collaborated with Skalata Ventures and One Roof this year on the program, which will include breakout sessions with advisors as well as opportunities for networking and tailored workshops.

To be eligible for the program, startups must offer products/services that address a genuine commercial problem or cater to a significant social need; have displayed traction with customers or have been validated by the market; are getting ready to raise capital; are looking to scale or branch out into untapped markets; have a significant market opportunity with potential to earn more than $100m in annual gross profit; and provide a product “with operational leverage at scale” like cloud-based software, mobile apps or hardware, Hall & Wilcox said.

Applicants will be evaluated based on these criteria as well as on their approach to problem-solving, team dynamics, customer traction, potential legal and professional support needs, and ability to draw capital from venture capitalists, private investors and angel networks. A two-day event will be held in Melbourne on 14-15 November for successful applicants.

Those accepted into Frank Lab will then participate in a four-week ongoing support program. They will also be provided with benefits that they have until 30 June 2025 to use: these benefits include $5,000 worth of legal services, the advisory services of a seasoned lawyer, regular meetings to focus on legal and commercial requirements, the provision of access to Hall & Wilcox’s accounting and investor networks, office space, tech and Smarter Law solutions.

Applications close on 27 September; successful applicants will receive offers by 18 October.

“Hall & Wilcox is dedicated to fostering innovation and supporting the growth of the startup ecosystem. Frank Lab exemplifies our commitment to giving back by assisting promising startups in overcoming obstacles and achieving their goals through practical, responsive business solutions”, said Jacqui Barrett, sponsoring partner to Frank Lab. “We’re excited to partner with Skalata Partners and One Roof to deliver this year’s program, bringing together a wealth of expertise and resources to support the next generation of entrepreneurs.
