The top firms act as an investment fund buys stakes in three projects in the state

Global firms shine in Qld solar farms deal
Baker McKenzie and Norton Rose Fulbright (NRF) is acting as an investment fund acquires interests in three solar farms in Queensland.

Baker McKenzie is advising Foresight Solar Fund, which has entered into binding agreements to acquire 49% of Longreach Solar Farm, 49% of Oakey 1 Solar Farm, and 100% of Oakey 2 Solar Farm in the state.  NRF is advising Canadian Solar, the vendor.

The three projects, which are rated at 17MW, 30MW, and 70MW, respectively, are expected to connect to the grid next year. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed.

Baker McKenzie’s team is led by partner Simon De Young. He is assisted by partner John Walker, special counsel Lauren Kirkwood, and associates Robert Gough, Aylin Cunsolo, Sarah Merrett, Mike Webb, Janet Cho, and Joanna Kuok.

The NRF team is led by partner Simon Currie, who is the firm’s global head of energy, and special counsel Chris Mitchell. They are supported by special consultant Kelly Davies, special counsel Claire Forster, associates Joanne Zhou and Chanel Mercurio, and lawyer Emile Goldman.
