“Adam’s appointment marks a significant step in the expansion of our legal service offering. His extensive experience and leadership in medical negligence litigation will be invaluable as we expand our service offering to support medical practitioners, medical defence organisations, and health service providers”, Rigby Cooke managing partner Bill Karvela said.

Stevens said that he was “privileged” to take charge of the firm’s move into the medical negligence space. The new team will concentrate on handling complex medical negligence claims and litigation, particularly accreditation disputes, coronial investigations and inquests, disciplinary matters, general disputes in the medical industry, Health Complaints Commission complaints, informal complaints and claims, and both litigated and non-litigated professional negligence claims.

Earlier this year, Julie Callea-Smyth was appointed by the firm to lead its insolvency and reconstruction practice.
