DMAW Lawyers has named executive general manager Bernice Witkowski as the firm’s inaugural CEO.

The appointment comes on the firm’s 22nd year in the industry. According to founding principal Leo Walsh, it “sets the foundations for a planned and managed transition of the senior management of the business over the coming years”.

“Bernice’s elevation to CEO is aligned with her increased responsibilities and senior leadership contribution at DMAW Lawyers. We are a people business and Bernice has exceptional people management skills across all levels, from senior lawyers to early career employees. That skillset and insight, matched with outstanding business acumen, makes Bernice the ideal leader for our firm”, he said.

Last year, Witkowski made history at DMAW Lawyers as the first-ever non-lawyer to become part of the executive leadership when she ascended to the role of executive general manager after four years as people and culture manager. As CEO, she will be collaborating with the board of directors to execute the firm’s strategic plan, as well as to drive growth and operations, DMAW Lawyers said.

“Bernice has renewed our focus on onboarding senior appointments, introduced professional development initiatives to develop our leaders and works with the board to deliver on our strategic plan in a way that brings everyone on the journey”, Walsh explained.

Witkowski said that it was “a privilege to work with a forward-thinking board and business that provide opportunities for career progression”.

DMAW Lawyers recently celebrated achieving over 20% year-on-year revenue growth across its service offerings.
