Dentons names European real estate head
Following the departure of its head of real estate to Greenberg Traurig, Dentons has announced that its European real estate group will be headed by Pawel Debowski, the Warsaw partner who was co-chairing the group before Eric Rosedale’s departure. Read the full story.

His fourth term of office is about to come to an end, and Martyr is putting his name forward again – he was unopposed in the firm’s 2011 election. Martyr has been the driving force behind the firm’s global expansion and is considered to have been a successful chief executive so any contender would have to be a very strong candidate. UK solicitors could lose out to barristers as more of the bar apply to be allowed to deal directly with the public on matters of litigation. However, the findings of the Barristers’ Working Lives report suggests that there may be fewer barristers as 58 per cent surveyed are unhappy with their work and around a fifth are considering leaving the profession. A law which prohibits convenience stores in Indiana from selling cold beer has been challenged in court. The action, brought by an association that represents convenience stores, claimed that the law is outdated and in contradiction to a constitutional law that should mean all retailers are treated equally. A judge dismissed the challenge and the association may now launch an appeal. Read the full story.
