Bosscher Lawyers has a search warrant executed by the CCC following allegations of the siphoning off of hundreds of thousands of dollars of clients’ funds

The George Street address of top Brisbane law firm Bosscher Lawyers was raided on Monday afternoon by the Crime and Corruption Commission (CCC). The raid took place just weeks after Tim Meehan, a former lawyer at the firm, had his assets frozen by the Supreme Court. Meehan’s assets were frozen following allegations he’d misappropriated more than $160,000 worth of client money at his former firm.
Meehan is also accused of having his law clerk and mistress, Xanthe Larcombe-Weate, help him transfer clients’ money into his own bank accounts. An additional $11,000 was allegedly deposited into Larcombe-Weate’s account.
Meehan was one of Queensland’s top criminal lawyers and represented Brett Peter Cowan, the infamous murderer of Daniel James Morcombe. Following the discovery of the theft, both Meehan and Larcombe-Weate were fired on August 16. Meehan’s details were also removed from the law society’s public online register.
The CCC, a statutory body tasked with combating and reducing the incidence of major crime and corruption in Queensland’s public sector, has confirmed it executed a search warrant at business located in the Brisbane CBD on Monday.
