Claro joins Dentons, expanding presence to Christchurch
Claro is slated to merge with Dentons

Dentons is slated to welcome health law firm Claro in a merger, effective April 1, 2024. The firm said the collaboration not only marks a significant expansion but also positions it as a powerhouse in the realm of health law in New Zealand.

Claro helps clients navigate the landscape of health and disability services. The firm works at the juncture of law, regulation, and health sector dynamics and has offices in Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch.

In addition, Dr. Jonathan Coates, Claro’s founding partner, will join Dentons as a consultant based in Christchurch. Anita Miller, a litigator, will assume a partner role in Dentons’ Wellington office.

Hayden Wilson, chair of Dentons in New Zealand, noted that this move aligns with the firm's vision of offering domestic and global legal services. “The addition of Dr Jonathan Coates, Anita Miller and the Claro team adds further bench strength to our leading health law practice. A physical presence in Christchurch continues our strategic growth in order to meet our clients’ needs across New Zealand,” said Wilson.

“We are excited to be joining Dentons and leveraging the local relationships, together with the international connections Dentons provides, to meet and exceed the needs of our clients in an increasingly complex regulatory environment,” said Miller.

“Dentons already has impressive strength across the health sector and we are thrilled to be able to offer an enhanced service to our clients. As part of Dentons, we will be able to connect clients to leading global talent and help leverage new opportunities across the sector both in New Zealand and globally.”

Dentons is a global firm operating in over 80 countries and 160 locations worldwide.

Denton is also one of the top Australian law firms in terms of revenue. Read more here.
