Barry.Nilsson. is set to bring its family law practice to Perth in a move that comes after the firm logged a strong financial year.

Chairman Rhett Kennedy described the establishment of the practice as an “exciting” step in the firm’s national expansion plan.

“This is an important expansion for Barry.Nilsson. that will allow us to bring our highly regarded family law expertise to clients in Western Australia,” he said.

With the Perth launch on 1 September, the firm will have four family law offices, including the ones in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. Principal Peter Milevski has been tapped to helm the Perth practice.

Milevski is an accredited family law specialist who played a key role in setting up Barry.Nilsson.’s family law practice in Sydney three years ago. He has specialised in family law since 2003, handling high net-worth property settlements and complex family business structures.

He has represented clients in matters spanning international jurisdictions, including high-profile clients.

Leading the Sydney family law practice in Milevski’s wake will be principal Melanie Rubin, who started with Barry.Nilsson. last year.

“Our insurance practice opened in Perth in 2017 and quickly established an outstanding reputation for hard work, dedication, and thought leadership. We are delighted to build on this experience and extend our client service offering to include family law,” Kennedy said.

Over the financial year, Barry.Nilsson. has beefed up its roster, with a total of 32 principals and over 300 staff.

“Our ongoing success is a reflection of the high quality of our legal expertise and recognised corporate culture of client-focused service,” Kennedy said.
