Baker McKenzie has added Dean Gerakiteys to its IP partnership in Sydney.

Gerakiteys joins from Clayton Utz, where he spent 14 years and was a partner on the national IP litigation team. He brings senior associates Grace Griffiths and Antonia Wayne-Boyle with him to Baker McKenzie.

Gerakiteys has worked on IP disputes involving trademarks, copyright, patents, confidential information, trade secrets and domain names. He has represented Australian and multinational clients throughout all stages of the litigation lifecycle and has appeared before the High Court.

He has also advised on advertising, consumer law, and the regulatory framework governing the listing, marketing and supply of therapeutic goods. He has managed IP portfolios for global brands and worked with regulators.

Anne-Marie Allgrove, Baker McKenzie’s national managing partner, said the appointment reflected the firm’s continued investment in its IP practice across Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

“Dean is an exceptional litigator with a proven record of success in some of Australia’s most significant IP cases. His combination of technical excellence, commercial insight, and deep industry knowledge will be of tremendous value to our clients. We are delighted to welcome him to the partnership,” said Anne-Marie Allgrove, Baker McKenzie’s national managing partner.

Andrew Stewart, Baker McKenzie’s IP practice head, said Gerakiteys would strengthen the firm’s national IP litigation capability.

“Dean has acted in some of the most complex and commercially important IP matters in Australia, and his experience across major global brands aligns perfectly with the work our clients entrust to us,” Stewart said.
