Baker McKenzie aids booking giant’s expansion of APAC metasearch unit

Baker McKenzie advised Booking Holdings as the latter gears up to acquire HotelsCombined and expand a key unit in the Asia-Pacific region.

Booking Holdings, a US-based group of companies, provides online travel and related services to customers and partners in more than 220 territories. It owns Booking.com, Priceline.com, Agoda.com, Kayak.com, ChealFlights.co.uk, RentalCars.com, Momondo, and OpenTable.

HotelsCombined, based in Sydney, will augment the company’s metasearch unit Kayak with its strong presence in the Asia-Pacific market.

Financial details of the deal have not been disclosed. It is expected to close later this year, subject to regulatory approval and conditions.

Baker McKenzie fielded a team based in Melbourne for the deal, led by partner Arthur Apos. He was assisted by senior associate Chris Taylor and Leah Cutri, as well as general associate Stephanie Szkilnik.
