M&A was in the doldrums last year for law firms.

In fact, Clayton Utz's recent The Real Deal wrap of M&A activity in 2013 found that it was a very quiet year for overall M&A activity, with the lowest number of deals over $50 million since way back in 2002.  

However, things are looking brighter in 2014.
