Three partners have now quit in three weeks
Ashurst has lost three partners in London in a span of three weeks.
The latest departure from the firm is disputes partner Ben Giaretta, who is going to Mishcon de Reya in 2018. Giaretta, who is Ashurst’s former Asia arbitration head, was made partner in 2009 after joining the firm in 1999.
The defection is another blow to Ashurst, which in late October lost a partner to a US firm in London, when corporate partner James Wood left to join Sidley Austin. At about the same time in New York, finance partner Scott Pierpont left for Chapman and Cutler.
Last week, corporate partner Dominic Ross left the firm to join White & Case in London after two years with Ashurst.
In May, Mishcon de Reya hired partners David Leibowitz and Joanna Lampert from Berwin Leighton Paisner. It hired partner Filippo Noseda from Withersworldwide in June.
In Australia last week, Maddocks hired Ashurst of counsel Catherine Baxter in Sydney, appointing her as special counsel. In October, Baker McKenzie hired former Ashurst Queensland managing partner John Lobban. K&L Gates also hired partner Steven Amendola from the firm last month.
