Finlaysons has announced the appointment of Tina Tomaszewski to partner.

Before joining Finlaysons, Tomaszewski worked for 25 years at South Australia’s Crown Solicitor’s Office, where she led and managed all aspects of civil litigation cases, including developing litigation and settlement strategies. She is highly experienced in civil litigation, encompassing medical malpractice, defamation, inquests, general civil litigation and industrial or workers’ compensation.

Tomaszewski has extensive experience working on significant, complex inquiries, investigations, civil litigation, trials and appeals. She has been the instructing solicitor in matters involving medical malpractice, commercial litigation and asbestos claims at the District Court, Supreme Court, and the Coroner’s Court.

She has managed third-party recovery claims and developed an initiative to review third-party recovery actions that identified key issues, including running a test case. The test case resulted in a substantial recovery for the state of SA and established an important precedent in this area.

Tomaszewski has managed and acted in the most complex medical malpractice claims, with quantum often in the millions of dollars. She has also been instructing the solicitors on some of the state’s most complex and sensitive coronial inquests.
