John Rodger heads the legal team at Vector, which includes eight lawyers and legal executives. This year required him and his team to respond to a large number of matters of vital importance to the business including: the “hurricane with no name” in April, which saw winds of 215kmph cause major damage to over 2000km of Vector’s electricity network, and left 140,000 Auckland households without power; large construction projects, including network builds and greenfield solar and/or battery projects; and working with regulators and energy companies to seek open access to smart metre energy data.
