Vocus represents New Zealand’s fourth largest telco incorporating the Vocus Communications, Orcon, Slingshot, Flip, Switch and 2Talk brands. As sole counsel for the New Zealand group, Acland manages the legal needs of nearly 700 employees across 22 different legal entities and six different brands. In addition to BAU, Acland acts as lead adviser on M&A deals and all other corporate transactions. Significant contributions by Acland this year include: supporting the launch of an electricity business in New Zealand across further Vocus brands, including Vocus Communications and 2talk; and reducing the FY19 legal spend for Vocus New Zealand by a further 12% – already down 50% from prior to her arrival at the company.
