Litigation specialist firm Beresford Law opens its doors in Auckland

A new litigation specialist firm, Beresford Law, has opened its doors in Auckland, focusing on environmental and civil litigation.

Husband and wife team Geoffrey and Joanna Beresford established the firm as “very much a law firm of 2022.” Joanna Beresford heads up the environment practice, while Geoffrey oversees the litigation practice.

Joanna Beresford specialises in environmental, local government, and resource management law. She has tackled matters involving strategic planning for consenting, designations and infrastructure, and environmental enforcement and compliance.

Geoffrey Beresford is an expert in civil/commercial litigation. He has handled claims involving actual or alleged building defects, insurance claims, late or disputed payments, and compensation claims. He has also conducted regulatory investigations of businesses.

The couple has gleaned experience from their tenures in top Auckland-based law firms.

Govett Quilliam expands to Stratford

Taranaki firm Govett Quilliam (GQ) is launching a Stratford office with its acquisition of Rod Gordon Barrister and Solicitor on 1 April.

“We are excited about the future of Govett Quilliam in Stratford, and the opportunity to continue to provide legal services to the vibrant, provincial towns and people of Central and South Taranaki,” GQ CEO Sophie Braggins said.

Rod Gordon will join GQ as a consultant in the new Stratford office, which will be led by associate Kate Laurenson.

GQ’s other offices are in New Plymouth and Inglewood.
