Two new partners at K3 Legal mark firm's commitment to growth and quality service

Signs of growth with new partners

October 2020 marks the addition of two new partners to K3 Legal – Chris Lee and Peter Sargent. With an impressive track record of work and clients between them, both bring a strong portfolio and skillset to their new roles, consistent with the firm’s track record of strong hires aimed at offering an expansive range of services to clients.

Lee starts on October 1, migrating across from Hesketh Henry. With more than 20 years of experience – including a 10-year stint in London – Lee is an established expert in commercial and corporate law and assists a client base of high growth SMEs and outstanding corporates with the sale and purchase of businesses, succession plans, shareholder agreements, commercial agreements and advice to owners and directors, including in relation to shareholder disputes.

“I love the energy and results coming out of K3 Legal,” says Lee. “The current environment is challenging for businesses but, with the right strategy and support, there will also be opportunities for growth.  I am excited about using K3’s platform to assist businesses to achieve their ambitions.”

Sargent will be transitioning across from his own practice, Sargent Lawyers, throughout October and will be on board full-time at the end of the month. Sargent’s work encompasses a range of specialist legal disciplines, including commercial, property, banking and construction law. With more than 35 years in the industry, Sargent has worked in the construction and engineering department of a top London law firm, and as a partner at a large Auckland firm, where he headed its commercial, banking and construction groups. Peter then spent a further seven years as a partner in an Auckland commercial law firm before striking out on his own.

“Joining K3 Legal is the next logical step and a positive move for me,” says Sargent. “I’m excited to be part of the team, and am very much looking forward to working for both existing and new clients.”

Both men are already personally known by a number of K3 Legal’s Directors, and are described by managing partner Edwin Morrison as a “perfect match” for the firm.

“Having Chris and Peter joining the K3 team is another leap in the firm’s vision for growth and quality of service,” says Morrison. “Obviously both of them bring a wealth of experience to their roles, but we also believe they’re both a great cultural fit for the firm. We look forward to having them on board, and the contributions that they’ll make to the NZ law community moving forward.”
