The homegrown talent started with the firm as a graduate 20 years ago
Banking and finance specialist Zelda Gower has been promoted to special counsel at Simpson Grierson.
She is a homegrown talent within the firm, having joined as a graduate back in 2005.
“I've had the privilege of knowing Zelda since she joined us as a law graduate, and her promotion to special counsel is a testament to her deep expertise and the respect she commands from clients and colleagues alike”, managing partner Andrew Harkness said. “Zelda’s strong people leadership skills mean she has established herself as a trusted adviser to both financiers and borrowers on complex, high-value banking transactions”.
Gower focuses on banking and finance law, in particular corporate finance, acquisition funding and asset financing and leasing. She has advised on the New Zealand aspects of multijurisdictional transactions.
Her clients have included financiers and borrowers. Moreover, she has handled matters involving personal property securities law and general financial services regulation.
Gower was part of the team that handled Macquarie Asset Management’s $1.076bn acquisition of 2degrees. She has worked with names like Counties Energy, Comvita, Qube, Tōtara Energy LP and Northpower.
“As special counsel, Zelda will continue to lead complex banking transactions for our clients, while expanding her leadership role within the firm. Zelda is held in high regard by our people and our clients, and is a recognised expert in corporate finance, acquisition funding, asset financing and leasing, regularly advising on multi-jurisdictional deals”, Harkness said.
