South Island firm ventures north with top tier appointment

A South Island law firm has expanded north with the appointment of a former top tier lawyer.

South Island firm Janet Copeland Law has nabbed a former Buddle Findlay lawyer in the north, appointing Kate Ashcroft in Tauranga.

Now Copeland Ashcroft Law, the employment and safety specialists have six lawyers in Invercargill, Dunedin, Queenstown and now Tauranga.  Copeland remains principal.

“Kate has specialised in employment and health and safety throughout her career and is a strong and learned provider of commercially pragmatic and tailored results that meet client needs,” said Copeland of the new appointment, noting that the North Island is seeing an increased demand for specialist employment and safety lawyers.

“We are honoured she accepted the role as a principal of the firm and has decided to move back to the sunny Bay of Plenty to help accommodate our growing client base there and the rest of the North Island.”

Ashcroft, who was recognised as a leading lawyer by the international legal directory last year is a member of the Auckland District Law Society Incorporated’s Employment Law Committee and of the Institute of Directors and is a Trustee of Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Zealand Trust.
