A common theme amongst NZ Lawyer’s 2023 Rising Stars cohort is how they shouldered responsibility by design.

Some took the opportunity to buck tradition and come up with innovative ways of working. Some took the path less taken in their careers. Some grasped at the chance to take on senior roles and expand their capabilities.

And all 50 trailblazers are under the age of 35.

Rising Star Megan Cucerzan was told she was wasting her career, but she’s making an impact working in her chosen sector. Rising Star Tim Conder has made a point of refusing to blindly follow tradition. Rising Star Alexandra Flaus left a large firm for a boutique. Rising Star Jacinda May aims to establish a strong personal brand.
