Russell McVeagh has bolstered its senior associate ranks with the addition of Callum Burnett, Elsie Stone, Jemma Milicich and Nick Fenton.

Burnett, Milicich and Fenton returned to the firm after stints in New York and London, while Stone joined last year after working with the European antitrust practice at London-based Gibson Dunn & Crutcher.

Burnett worked with Kirkland & Ellis and Clifford Chance over a three-year period in New York. He tackled matters involving public and private M&A, private equity transactions, banking and finance matters and real estate and construction projects.

He commenced with Russell McVeagh’s tax team. He has assisted on New Zealand tax disputes and tax litigation.

Milicich practises with Russell McVeagh’s banking and finance team. She was a senior legal counsel at Auckland-based Alvarium before making the jump to Russell McVeagh in January.

She has tackled matters related to structured financing, debt programmes, regulatory issues and complex transactional arrangements. Her clients have included banks and non-bank lenders. She also logged stints at Mayne Wetherell and Jones Day in Singapore before her first stint with Russell McVeagh as a senior solicitor, per LinkedIn.

Fenton worked with Freshfields LLP in London before his return to Russell McVeagh. He has advised on commercial disputes, class actions, public law proceedings, competition claims and regulatory investigations.

He has worked with corporate and government entities in the technology, energy and aviation sectors. He presently practises with Russell McVeagh’s litigation team.

Stone joined Russell McVeagh’s government, competition and regulatory team. She has tackled global transactions with cross-border application in the technology, pharmaceutical and space sectors.

She has advised on merger clearances for complex domestic and international transactions, behavioural investigations involving cartel, merger control and market power allegations, market studies, and compliance strategies including those related to joint ventures and competitor collaborations.

Burnett, Milicich and Stone operate from Auckland, while Fenton works from Wellington.
