The Resolution Institute commemorated International Women’s Day with a panel discussion this year.

The discussion was held last Tuesday 4 March. It featured Resolution Institute CEO Amber Williams, mediator Mary Walker OAM, mediator and mediation trainer and facilitator Nina Harding, and Accessible Diversity Services Initiative CEO Joanna Matthew.

Walker has more than three decades of dispute resolution experience and is known for her contributions to ADR in Australia. Harding concentrates on business disputes and complaint handling, and is also the Australian Film Code Conciliator.

The panel touched on issues such as mentorship while faced with adversity and the “glass cliff” – how perceived barriers offer growth and leadership opportunities.

Williams discussed her leadership journey at the Resolution Institute, emphasising the contribution of mentorship. Walker talked about her ADR experience, and Harding shared how women in business could leverage their strengths. Meanwhile, Matthew focused on resilience, especially for women in diverse and challenging industries.

The Resolution Institute said that it sought to celebrate IWD with a focus on “empowerment, growth, and the ongoing efforts needed to overcome barriers in the workplace”. The event was crafted for women of all ages and backgrounds, the organisation said.

The Resolution Institute’s IWD 2025 celebration was attended by dispute resolvers, arbitrators, legal professionals and aspiring women leaders.
