Promotion for Sydney-based clean energy specialist
James Durnall has been promoted to partner at Bird & Bird.

The Sydney-based lawyer joined the firm in 2017 from an in-house role as director of legal and business affairs of UK firm Ingenious Infrastructure.

Durnall is one of 23 new partners in Bird & Bird’s largest ever promotions round which also includes 7 senior counsel, 19 counsel, and 2 legal directors.

Also newly promoted in Australia are Megan Edwards (commercial) and Michael Stojanovic (corporate) who are made counsel.

IP lawyer Hank Leung is the only other Asia Pacific promotion, making partner.

Project finance lawyer Tessa Davis has joined Morrison Foerster in Singapore as a partner in its global project finance group.

The prominent lawyer was previously with Linklaters in the city state where she led the energy and infrastructure group.

Offshore firm announces new office managing partner
Harneys has announced a new managing partner for its British Virgin Islands office as Colin Riegels leaves to return to academia.

Tanya Cassie-Parker will take over the role from 1st July 2019 after 20 years with the firm, originally at the Hong Kong office specialising in aircraft finance and ship finance. Today she advises on various forms of corporate finance.

Riegels Colin is returning to the Faculty of Law at the University of Oxford, where he will be undertaking his doctoral thesis on cross-border enforcement of security but will remain connected to Harneys on a consultancy basis.
