Pearce IP has poached Amanda Griffiths from AJ Park to lead its trade marks (NZ) division.

Griffiths will act as executive lawyer and trade mark attorney at Pearce IP. She brings almost 25 years of experience working in the technology, manufacturing, retail, marine, finance, life sciences and healthcare sectors.

She has a special interest in fast-moving consumer goods and has tackled matters involving all trade mark life cycle stages, including clearance, registration, enforcement and portfolio management. Her clients have included startups and large multinational corporations.

Griffiths began leading AJ Park’s trade marks team on 1 July 2020 – the first woman to take on the role at the firm. She managed a team of over 50 across AJ Park’s Auckland and Wellington branches before moving on to the role of principal in April 2024.

She was with AJ Park for almost 20 years, according to LinkedIn. She was also an executive with Fieldfisher in London and James and Wells in Auckland.

In 2021, NZ Lawyer included Griffiths in its list of Elite Women in law for that year. She was admitted as a solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand and is an NZIPA associate.

Last year, Pearce IP also snatched litigation and commercial practice group head Paul Johns from AJ Park. Johns presently leads Pearce IP’s litigation team in New Zealand; he told NZ Lawyer that his vision for the team was to concentrate on its life sciences core expertise.
