International firm adds 25 to partnership
Clifford Chance is the latest international law firm to announce partner promotions. There are 25 new partners across the firm’s global footprint and a wide range of practice areas bringing the total to 581. In Asia-Pacific there are promotions for capital markets lawyer Angela Chan and disputes specialist Edward Johnson in Hong Kong; and international disputes lawyer Kabir Singh in Singapore.
 
Baker & McKenzie appoints new global head of diversity
Karen Brown has been appointed global chief diversity & inclusion officer at Baker & Mckenzie. She joins the international law firm from agrichemical firm Monsanto where she held a similar role. Brown is a well-respected voice in international diversity and is often a key speaker on the subject. She recently received the Outstanding Women in Leadership Award from the Women Leadership Congress & Awards in Mumbai.
 
New head of antitrust practice at BLP
International law firm Berwin Leighton Paisner has announced the appointment of Andrew Hockley as the new head of its antitrust and competition group effective from May 1. Hockley joined the firm in 2010. The news follows the recent strengthening of the group with the promotion of James Marshall to one of six partners.
 
Hogan Lovells hires corporate partner in Tokyo
International firm Hogan Lovells has expanded its practice in Japan with the hire of a corporate partner from a local boutique firm. Wataru Kamoto joins from Hibiya-Nakata having previously been with Allen & Overy and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer.
 
Mayer Brown JSM hires partner for corporate & securities practice
Thomas Kollar has joined Mayer Brown JSM in Hong Kong as part of its corporate and securities practice. His focus is on capital markets work and he has a decade of experience in US debt and equity capital markets transactions.
