Former Bell Gully senior associate Kate Driver has made the jump to DLA Piper.

This marks a comeback to the firm for Driver, who initially joined DLA Piper Wellington as a solicitor in 2012 according to LinkedIn. She now joins the firm’s investment management and funds team as a senior associate.

“Kate’s return to DLA Piper reflects our commitment to continuing to grow our investment funds capability. Her cross-jurisdictional experience enhances our ability to support clients with complex fund structuring and governance needs, while remaining focused on practical local outcomes”, said Rachel Taylor, who heads up the firm’s corporate practice group in New Zealand.

In addition to her two-year stint with Bell Gully, Driver brings experience from having worked in London as an associate at Addleshaw Goddard and at Ashurst in London. She was also an associate at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP.

She advised private equity and investment fund sponsors in relation to fund establishment, governance and corporate matters.

“Kate has advised some of the world's largest fund sponsors and investors across private equity, infrastructure and real estate. Coupled with her experience in financial services M&A, her return bolsters our national capability in a dynamic and evolving market”, said Tom Barnes, an investment management and funds partner at DLA Piper.

Driver operates from the firm’s Auckland office.
