James & Wells founding partner Kate Wilson has returned to the firm as a consultant.

She worked with the firm as an IP strategy advisor before departing as a partner in 2015. In her new role, Wilson will offer strategic IP and business advice.

“A significant part of my career at James & Wells involved helping clients and the wider business and research communities understand, secure, and leverage their IP rights. Being able to extend the strategic IP services I have provided in my own consultancy by being part of the James & Wells team again feels wonderful, It has also been fantastic to re-connect with old colleagues and friends”, Wilson said.

After leaving James & Wells, she launched businesses, joined corporate boards and put up her own IP strategy practice. A physicist and chemist, Wilson has gleaned experience on technologies and industries, as well as all types of intangible asset considerations. She also provided legal advice in relation to a Netflix series.

“Not only will business owners need to think more strategically, they will also be compelled to think creatively, as traditional business models become less relevant and other markets should be considered”, Wilson explained.

“We are excited and delighted to have Kate working with us again. She needs no introduction in terms of what she offers clients seeking to maximise the commercial potential of their IP. Kate’s insights and energy are highly regarded by clients that want clarity and guidance on how they can use IP intelligently”, James & Wells partner Jonathan Lucas said.
