Expect a lively discussion and for common threads and differences to emerge

International experts to discuss arbitration at Wellington event

International experts will discuss arbitration next week at a round table organised by Victoria University of Wellington.

The event, organised with the International Law Association and the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand, will tackle the latest in international arbitration, as well as give participants the opportunity to ask questions.

“This round table event is an exciting opportunity for New Zealand arbitration practitioners to engage with experts from around the world and gain inside knowledge on a range of contemporary issues pertaining to international arbitration,” said Prof. Petra Butler, who will chair the roundtable.

The panel consists of experts from London, Hong Kong, Vienna, the US, and New Zealand. Topics such as investor-state arbitration, third-party funding, and climate change are expected to be discussed in-depth at the event, Butler said.

“We expect a lively discussion, and I look forward to seeing the common threads and differences that arise between the participants’ global perspectives,” said Prof. Campbell McLachlan QC, who jointly organised the event with Butler.

The International Arbitration Round Table will be held on 23 April from 12 pm to 2 pm at Moot Room (GB340), Old Government Buildings, 55 Lambton Quay, Wellington.
