HSF, KWM advise on refinancing of Waterloo Wind Farm

Teams from Herbert Smith Freehills and King & Wood Mallesons have helped secure the AU$140 million refinancing of South Australia’s Waterloo Wind Farm.

The facility generates enough clean energy to supply electricity to more than 50,000 homes. It has been operational since 2010.

Herbert Smith Freehills advised MUFG Bank, Ltd., with a team led by partner Gerard Pike with assistance from senior associate Owen Alcorn and solicitors Olivia Mitchell and Frank Wang.

“This transaction is a great example of the trend of overseas banks with full service offerings in the Australian market being able to provide very competitive and innovative financing terms to Australian projects,” said Pike.

KWM advised the sponsors Palisade Investment Partners and Northleaf Capital on the refinancing.
