32 firms cultivated remarkable work environments that set them apart
Australasian Lawyer and NZ Lawyer have revealed the 5-Star Employers of Choice for 2026.
The winning firms cultivated outstanding work environments for their staff, offering excellent renumeration, clear career advancement paths, and health and wellbeing support. They ranged from small boutiques to large global firms.
The winners include:
New Zealand firms have struggled with talent retention as local talent seek out overseas opportunities in the UK and, more recently, Australia. One Employer of Choice indicated that a strong strategy for keeping talent is cultivating the kind of firm lawyers want to come back to once they’re done traveling. Another Employer of Choice sponsored five solicitors from overseas to work in New Zealand and became an accredited employers under New Zealand Immigration Services.
