A top tier law firm has refreshed its partnership bench with the promotion of four new lawyers in a move it says will enhance its ‘dynamic’ network of legal specialists.

Hailing from a range of different legal practice areas, the lawyers promoted have been singled out as being the product of long careers and development within the firm over the last decade.
Resource management lawyer Daniel Minhinnick joined as a graduate in 2005, and has now become a partner in the firm’s environment, planning & natural resources group.
Meanwhile, Ian Beaumont’s ties go back to a scholarship and summer clerkship with the firm in 2006/2007, after which he joined as a graduate in the firm’s corporate group in 2008.
Though Beaumont did leave for a stint in the New York office of Skadden in 2012, he returned to Russell McVeagh in 2015, where his capital markets expertise put him on track for partner.
The other two new partners – Troy Pilkington in the public, regulatory and competition group, and Marika Eastwick-Field in the litigation group – also have long histories with the firm.
Pilkington joined as a solicitor in 2007, and has grown into the partnership thanks to a focus on competition and consumer law issues as well as antitrust investigations.
Eastwick-Field has been with the firm since 2008, and focuses on commercial litigation in the real estate and construction, insurance, and financial services markets.
Russell McVeagh partnership chair Graeme Quigley said the firm was always happy to welcome new partners, but especially when they have all been part of the firm for some time.
The firm has also chosen to renew its ranks of senior associates, with an additional four promotions set to develop a batch of new leadership candidates for the future.
The new senior associates are Lucy Becke in the firm’s finance practice, general litigators Will Irving and Michael Mabbett, as well as the corporate advisory group’s Joanna Khoo.
