Claro elevates three to special counsel

Claro has elevated three lawyers to special counsel and welcomed a senior solicitor in Wellington and a solicitor in Christchurch.

Appointed to special counsel are Wendy Beverley, Belinda Johns, and Aisling Weir. Senior solicitor Catherine Deans joined the firm’s Wellington office from Christchurch, while solicitor Andrea Lane joined the firm in Christchurch.

Beverley is not only an experienced lawyer but is also registered nurse who has spent several years in public and private healthcare specialising in intensive care and emergency nursing. She was also a senior manager in a major tertiary and teaching district health board, as well as a New Zealand delegate in overseas posts for the International Red Cross.

Johns is an expert in medical law and has a particular focus on civil litigation for patients and family members. She also has extensive experience in risk management, clinical processes, and patient care.

Weir is a senior commercial lawyer who specialises in general commercial contracting, procurement, and health technology development and commercialisation. She was formerly a senior associate at Buddle Findlay.
