The new appointees are based in the firm’s Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch offices

Chapman Tripp promotes 6 to senior solicitor
Chapman Tripp has appointed six new senior solicitors with expertise in various practice areas such as private client, resource management, tax, and litigation.

James Glover and Nicola de Wit in Auckland, Grace Bennett and Trish Ieong in Wellington, and Allan Brent and Michelle Nicol in Christchurch were promoted effective 1 September.

As part of the firm’s private client team, Glover brings broad trust law experience in a private client and commercial setting. He will advise on all aspects of trust formation, administration, structuring, and succession planning.

De Wit specialises in resource management and environment law. Aside from advising on planning, resource consent, and designation processes under the Resource Management Act, de Wit also assists clients with Local Government Act and Public Works Act issues.

Bennett specialises in litigation, dispute resolution, and resource management. She advises the Earthquake Commission on natural disaster issues as well as a national network utility operator in relation to resource management issues.

As part of the tax team, Leong advises on cross-border transactions, acquisition and disposal of property, trusts and charities, and other complex tax matters. She brings particular experience in the statutory tax disputes process and in tax litigation.

Brent specialises in infrastructure and resource management law and advises government and private clients on the Resource Management Act.

With a specialization in environment, planning, and resource management law, Nicol advises on the development and consenting of major infrastructure projects, district and regional planning issues, submissions on resource consent applications and plan changes, law reform, and environmental compliance issues.
