Aspiration drives four new partner promotions

A law firm has elevated four new lawyers to its partnership thanks to what it calls its aspiration for four key practices within its full-service client offering.

Chapman Tripp’s aspirations for its corporate, employment, tax and property practices have driven four new promotions to the firm’s 50-strong partnership ranks.
 
With three new partners in its Auckland office, and one new partner in Wellington, chief executive partner Nick Wells says the firm is putting investment behind its aspirations.
 
“These promotions demonstrate our aspirations for – and continued investment in – each of these teams,” Wells said in a statement.  “They will strengthen the 50-strong partnership that forms New Zealand’s leading law firm,” he said.
 
In Auckland, corporate lawyer Joshua Pringle will bring to bear several years’ experience at New York firm Cravath Swaine & Moore as a new partner, where he will advise on a full range of corporate matters including M&A and private equity.
 
Marie Wisker joins the employment law and health and safety partnership team, where she will continue acting for a number of the firm’s key clients - many of which are large employers - including advising on the brand new health and safety regime.
 
Finally, tax lawyer Bevan Miles has stepped into the partnership after only a year, thanks to experience including his former role in-house at ASB Bank where he had responsibility for the tax affairs of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia’s local group.
 
In Wellington, Chapman Tripp has promoted the property-focused Greg Wise, who will advise  on infrastructure, construction law and commercial property matters.
 
Chapman Tripp has recently indicated that a focus on leadership and diversity within its ranks is a key plank in positioning itself to face disruption and change.
 
“Diversity of thought is key in this changing legal landscape,” says Wells.
