Acting District Court judge appointed

John James Dashwood Strettell has been appointed as an acting judge of the District Court.

Strettell's appointment is for a term of two years, which will commence on 6 October. In addition to his duties in the District Court, Strettell will also have jurisdiction as a judge of the Family Court.

Strettell was a judge of the District Court from 1990 before retiring in 2014. He also served for five years as a judge of the Administrative Family Court for the Southern Region.

In 2016, Strettell was appointed a Companion of the Queen's Service Order for services to the judiciary. He also chaired the supervising committees of the Salvation Army Bridge and Nova Lodge programmes.
