Rising Stars 2020

Company: Hive Legal
Title: Associate
Age: 27

In a very short time, Mona Sukkar has made her mark at Hive Legal and with its clients. She is a skilled financial services lawyer providing legal assistance, way beyond her years of practice, to major players in the financial sector and her commitment to efficiency and innovation have made her an extremely valued member of Hive’s financial services team. For instance, she’s developed regulatory checklists (including for simple managed investment schemes and hedge funds) for reviewing product disclosure statements and reference guides. She finds working in the financial services sector post the Hayne Royal Commission particularly fascinating as it presents an additional challenge and has provided a new perspective on the operation of the sector. A couple of examples of her achievements include project managing Hive’s assistance to a major financial institution on a post-Hayne Royal Commission corporate restructure, and leading discussion groups with clients in relation to regulatory strategies in response to changes in the financial services industry. She is also committed to pro bono work and is a member of the Refugee Legal volunteer team and the Justice Connect Employee Assistance Program.
