Rising Stars 2020

Company: Baker McKenzie
Title: Associate
Age: 30

Lisa Houston is an associate in Baker McKenzie's Brisbane corporate markets team specialising in both regulated and unregulated mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance and equity capital markets. She has been commended for showing superior legal capability and leadership beyond her years of experience, effectively acting in a senior associate role on a number of significant and market-leading corporate and commercial transactions. She was required to analyse and communicate highly complex and contentious legal issues, often within extremely tight timeframes and under trying circumstances. However, she ‘truly rose to the occasion’ and delivered successfully. In addition to working on significant transactions, her experience includes advising a stable of listed clients on regulatory and corporate compliance matters, and both issuers and underwriters on capital raisings. As a member of the Queensland Women's Lawyers Association and having recently joined Baker McKenzie's BakerWomen committee, Houston has also demonstrated a keen commitment to the promotion and advancement of women in the legal profession.
