Highlight: Leading litigator enjoys solving conflict through lawyer collaborations

When it comes to conflict referral matters, Danielle Snell has been recognised as the “go-to” litigator. The 2021 Most Influential Lawyer has been lauded for her ability to address conflict issues through collaboration with other lawyers and for being able to look out for the opposite side’s clients as well.

She has worked with top insurers in Australia and across the globe; nonetheless, she has been considered one of the few litigators who can represent business and individual policy holders against insurers. Her ability to factor in a variety of expectations across stakeholders during litigation has led to a high success rate when it comes to resolving disputes before trials commence.

Snell has displayed skill in strategy and negotiation, and has taken on complaints, investigations and inquiries in all jurisdictions. She has advised a wide range of clients, including directors, executives, shareholders, professionals, parliamentary officials, public figures, companies and associations.

A specialist in commercial and insurance litigation and media law, Snell practised with top- and mid-tier firms before breaking off after 15 years to establish NewLaw firm Elit Lawyers by McGirr & Snell in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The firm bucks the traditional law firm model by embracing e-litigation and utilising technology to grant clients access to their litigation file at all times.

Last year, the firm nabbed a partner from Moray & Agnew to launch its corporate and commercial offering.

Snell also has a particular interest in professional negligence and women’s rights, tying in with her passion for diversity, inclusion and equality.

Australasian Lawyer is set to announce the 2022 Most Influential Lawyers this month.
