She is an expert in complex commercial litigation, financial services, and class action disputes
A&O Shearman has attracted litigator Amy Middlebrook from Baker McKenzie.
She commenced with the firm this week, bringing considerable experience with complex commercial litigation, financial services and class action disputes. She has tackled matters involving ASIC and the ACCC.
Middlebrook focuses on both domestic and cross-border cross-sector issues and has worked for multinational corporates. She has also represented clients from the healthcare sector on complex litigation and regulatory matters, leveraging her background in pharmacology.
She is admitted in NSW and the High Court. She worked with Baker McKenzie’s Australia dispute resolution team before making the jump to A&O Shearman.
“Amy's deep understanding of the local market, combined with her proven track record in high-stakes litigation and her ability to navigate cross-border disputes will significantly enhance our capabilities and allow us to continue delivering exceptional results for our clients on their most complex contentious issues,” A&O Shearman partner Michael Shepherd said.
A&O Shearman's global co-head of litigation and investigations, Calum Burnett, added that after the merger of Allen & Overy with Shearman & Sterling, Australia was identified as “one of the key differentiators in our offering to clients”.
“Amy is a talented litigator who brings a unique global perspective having practiced in both the US and Australia that adds to our ability to help clients on their complex commercial disputes”, Burnett said.
Middlebrook will operate from the Sydney office as part of the litigation team.
